Island of ManhattanPuzzle Amazes Guests Seeking Summer Fun

Guests Explore Barton Orchards’ All-New Maize Quest Corn Maze Adventure!

Fishkill, NY – Barton Orchards opens its first Corn Field Maze with the theme “Island of Manhattan” at 10am on August 5th at 15 Fishkill Farm Road, Hopewell Jct., and NY.12533.   The Barton Family, farm produce experts at Barton Orchards, joined forces with Maize Quest, an international maze design firm and franchiser of maze fun parks.  Maize Quest not only designed the unique maze but also added games on the Manhattan theme to increase the entertainment value.

The “Island of Manhattan” maze features a giant Statue of Liberty holding her traditional torch against a miniature outline of New York City’s skyline.  At the top, maze pathways spell out “DA Morgenthau” to honor Robert M. Morgenthau, whose family has owned Fishkill Farm for 98 years. Morgenthau has served as the District Attorney of New York County for more than 31 years.  The Barton Family has been farming in Dutchess County for two generations and is known for producing premium quality fruits and vegetables and selling them directly to the community.

Challenging the maze, guests discover clues and facts about the New York City, do crayon rubbings of famous buildings, decode a secret word, and navigate through the twisting puzzle using Maize-o-Vision® secret decoders to read a hidden map.

-more-

“Our maze centers on Manhattan Island and leads guests on a quest to discover curious facts and bits of history about New York, our nation’s largest city,” said Pete Barton, the official Maze Master at Barton Orchards.  “People soon discover it’s never been so much fun to ‘get lost’!”

Because the maze is a puzzle bigger than any one person, teamwork is a hallmark of solving these gigantic puzzles. Each year thousands of families, scouts, students, and church youth groups challenge a Maize Quest maze. They divide into teams of 4-6 people and work together to complete the maze-based scavenger hunt.

To make sure everyone finds the way out, maze patrons can wave for help with the use of a signal flag given to them at the entrance.  Staff members are available inside the maze to give hints to the frustrated.  Barton Orchards’ Maize Quest provides outdoor adventure in a safe environment.

After completing the maze, guests can make other memories together at Barton Orchards.   Groups can enjoy panning for gemstones in an authentic mining sluice right on the property.  Bags of mining dirt are available for sale for $5 a small bag or $7 for a large bag.

Barton Orchards’ Corn Maze is part of the international Maize Questâ family of Maze Fun Parks.  It opens at 10am on Saturday, August 5th at 15 Fishkill Farm Rd., Hopewell Jct., NY 12533 and runs through October 29th

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children 4-12, and free to those 3 and under.  Groups may schedule special events and times to visit Maize Quest.  Call Barton Orchards at 845.897-2266 for pricing and booking or visit www.bartonorchards.com and click ‘Corn Maze’ or www.CornMaze.com and click on ‘New York’.  ###
