Apple Strudel

  • 1 cup soft butter
  • ¼  cup sugar
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar
  • ¼  cup water

Beat butter and sugar. Add eggs, flour, vinegar and water to hold together. Refrigerate 1 hour. Makes 3 balls.

Filling

  • 3 cups peeled & sliced apples
  • ¼  cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon

Roll dough thin. Mix the sugar and cinnamon and toss with the apples. Add apples and fold envelope style. Bake 40 minutes at 375° until brown.

Apple Pinwheel

  •  1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ¼  tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 3 or 4 tart apples, cored and sliced

Topping

  •  3 Tbsp. sugar
  •  1 tsp. cinnamon

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Add milk and butter and mix well.  Spread dough in greased 9-inch pie pan. Arrange apples in pinwheel design on dough.

Mix sugar and cinnamon topping and  sprinkle over apples. Bake 30 minutes at 375°.

Apple Harvest Cake

  •  2 large cooking apples
  • ½  cup butter or shortening
  •  1 cup sugar
  •  1 tsp. vanilla

Peel and chop apples to make 1 ½ cups. Cream shortening or butter and add sugar gradually, beating well. Add apples and vanilla.

Sift together

  •  2-½  cups flour
  •  3-½  tsp. baking powder
  •  ¼  tsp. baking soda
  •  ½ tsp. salt
  •  1 tsp. cinnamon
  •  1 tsp. nutmeg
  •  2 Tbsp. cocoa

Add 1 cup chopped nutsand 1 cup raisins.

Add to first mixture, beating well.

Bake in greased 9-inch tube pan for 1-¼  hour at
